Buzz Robot – Product Review

Check out my son’s review of the Buzz Robot toy from the movie Toy Story 4:

He was so excited to have this toy and couldn’t wait to do his first toy review. We paid £43.90 for it and you can purchase yours here:

It is a big toy, and as you can see, he had lots of fun playing with it. However, my husband did comment how for that price he expected it to make sounds!!

Colour Changing Water

Watch the children’s faces when they discover that they can make the colour in the water disappear! All you need to make this happen is:

  • 3 clear cups
  • 3 different food colourings
  • A little bit of bleach
  • Water
  • Dropper
  • Gloves
  • A stirrer

First, half fill each of the 3 cups with water and add a different colour food colouring to each. Then, using a dropper, add a few drops of bleach to each cup. Using the stirrer, stir away the colour.

Please ensure the safety of the children doing this experiment as it involves bleach. Make sure there is close adult supervision at all times and use the appropriate protective equipment (we used gloves).

Volcanic Eruption

Please take care when conducting this science experiment. Keep children far back and ensure that you use appropriate protective equipment. This is our second volcanic eruption experiment. You can find our first one here:

https://1ststeps.blog/2019/07/10/glitter-volcano-eruption/

The ingredients you will need for this volcanic eruption are:

  • a tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 12% peroxide
  • 3/4 cup of warm water
  • food colouring
  • plastic bottle
  • 2 cups
  • spoon
  • gloves
  • dish soap

First, fill a cup 3/4 of the way with the peroxide and pour into the bottle. Add a squirt of dish soap and a few drops of food colouring. Add the yeast to the warm water and stir until dissolved. Then add to the mixture. Give a gentle shake to start the eruption.

Here’s our video footage of the experiment:

Snow Storm in a Jar

So many children’s science experiments fail. They don’t always do what they are claimed to do on some blogs. However, this one has guaranteed great results.

All you need is:

  • Baby oil
  • White ready mix paint
  • 2 x soluable tablets
  • Jar
  • Water

First, fill half the jar with the baby oil. Then fill the rest of the jar up with water. Cover the bottom with a thick layer of the paint. Then pop in 2 soluable tablets. Give the mixture a little stir. Watch as the mixture starts to rise up in blobs then drop back down like snow.

This is so easy it can be done at school, nursery and at home.

Legoland Windsor – Review

We had a great weekend at Legoland Windsor in June 2019. We were lucky to have stayed at the Legoland Hotel.

Check out our review of our themed room here: https://1ststeps.blog/2019/06/20/legoland-hotel-themed-room-and-lego-treasure-hunt/

Miniland was breathtaking with loads to see. The Nasa rocket took off every 6 minutes. There was a racetrack with cars that would race, moving vehicles, sailing boats and sculptures from all around the world.

The Star Wars Experience was fascinating. Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, the sculptures reenacting parts of the film was yet again amazing!

Duplo Valley was a large area that has a puppet theatre, a splash park, rides and a big play area called Bricksville. The splash park is fab in the warm weather to cool the kids down.

One of our favourite family rides was Fairytale Brook. The children loved it. It was literally sailing through all the classic fairy tales with some very impressive lego animatronics and sculptures.

Heartlake City has some lovely shops, an All You Can Eat Pizza restaurant and shows throughout the day. We caught the Pirate Ship show but unfortunately we missed the Lego Friends show. We hired a buggy here also.

We would definitely recommend a visit to Legoland. Such a fun place and we were in awe of the talents of the Lego model builders.
